Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Football - Tom Yeoman Shield:
County Schools Under 11s stay unbeaten
Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Football Squad travelled to Swansea to play their fourth round matches against Swansea Schools and came home with three wins from four matches to maintain their proud undefeated record in this year’s competition.
Pembrokeshire A 2 - Swansea A 0
The Pembs boys meant business from the first kick off and played some very mature football. Henry McBeth and Ben Fawcett closed the ball down quickly and some gritty tackling by Cameron Thomas and Alaric Jones in midfield set the standard.
Fawcett put Pembs ahead and strong defending by Ethan Price, Regan Pallas and Max Brindley kept any Swansea attack at bay so that Nick Jones kept a clean sheet in goal. Ben Fairbain and Tobias Nash came on in the second half and added strength to the squad. Jones put Pembs further ahead, leaving Pembs with a comfortable win.
Pembrokeshire A 0 - Swansea B 2
Pembs went into this match thinking that this would be an easy game and were caught out early through a counter-attack goal. All through the game they were playing catch up and despite sustained pressure and an abundance of goal attempts they were unable to score the equaliser. Pembs dominated for most of the game but just couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net. Swansea added a second minutes from the end leaving Pembs wishing they had played more of a passing game.
Pembrokeshire B 4 - Swansea B 1
Pembs started well with a breakaway goal by Danny Llewellyn and came close several times from crosses by Travis O’Connor down the right. Curtis Hicks controlled the centre of the pitch and Llewellyn scored again, after being played through by Jaden Elliott, before Swansea pulled one back near half time.
Pembs almost totally dominated the second half, with Elliott Wherrett and Garin Gardner prominent, and Morgan Picton made a couple of timely saves. Jack Wilson and Harrison Duckett ran well and Rowan Nicholson score two fantastic goals to give Pembs a well deserved three points.
Pembrokeshire B 1 - Swansea A 0
A sluggish first half was brightened with a goal from Jaden Elliott which was good enough to settle the match. A Swansea second half comeback opened up the game but Pembs defended strongly with Morgan Picton, Garin Gardner and Elliott Wherett outstanding. Although Pembrokeshire had enough chances to settle the match comfortably from breakaways it was left to Curtis Hicks to produce a great saving tackle at the end to prevent a Swansea goal and give his team a narrow, but well fought win.
