Can ‘The Gladiator’ beat The Expert?

 

The heavy frost that decimated the football programme last week gave something of a reprieve to Bernie Armstrong in his quest to stop The Expert completing a hat-trick of successes over the Goodwick United manager.
Bernie appeared in our Christmas Quiz as a Roman Soldier and it seems that he was so taken by his mocked-up picture that he has decided he might just change his name to Bernardus and must be gladiatorial in his battle with our resident tipster.
Bernardus said today,
“I’m not going to make any rash predictions but while I was painting the front of Armstrong Palace on Monday I thought a lot about this Saturday’s games and I am confident that I can take the lead this week if the shock results I predict come through.”
But The Expert was less than impressed by Gladiator Bernardus as he told us,
“He was wasting his time dressing up in skirts on this web-site and it’s the same with this challenge – he can’t do it right over four weeks.”
“My mole at Armstrong Palace tells me that he wasn’t allowed to climb any ladders because he wasn’t focussing on the job in hand and had more paint on him than he got on the wall.
So Bernardus, the self-styled Roman Gladiator, get ready to do battle on Saturday – but beware because The Expert is gunning for you!

‘Bernardino’s’ Forecasts

Division One:

Hakin United 6 - Solva 1

Hakin are in good form and with their choice of strikers they will take some stopping – although I expect Solva to grab a goal.

 

Kilgetty 2 - Herbrandston 4

Herbrandston are in good nick after their Senior Cup win last Saturday and I pick them to win in a match where there will be plenty of goals.

 

Narberth 2 - Merlins Bridge 3

Narberth are hard to beat on their own territory but the Bridge need to win if they are to have any chance of winning the title so I go for them by one goal.

 

Neyland 4 - Clarbeston Road 2

Clarbeston Road are in great form after recent wins but Neyland are another useful side, especially at the Athletic Ground, and so I think they will ease home.

 

Pennar Robins 5 - Johnston 2

Pennar won well at Solva and I think they will be too strong at home to Johnston if the Robins are at full strength.

 

Senior Cup Quarter Finals

Goodwick United 3 - Tenby 2

I know that we have one heck of a battle on our hands here but the boys are in good form and I think we can make it into the semis if we play to our best form.

 

Haverfordwest County 1 - Monkton Swifts 2

I know The Expert will scoff at this prediction but I really do believe that Monkton can win at the Bridge Meadow – and it could be a vital win for me as well!
