Fixtures for 11th December 2010

Swalec Cup Round One:

Llanharan v Narberth
Narberth travel to old rivals Llanharan in the first round of the Swalec Cup, knowing that they will need to be on top form to beat a side that is currently eighth in Division One (East) but capable of beating anyone on their day. Verdict: If the Otters are at their peak they could move into round two but I’ll go for Llanharan with home advantage.

Bridgend v Whitland
This is an even tougher tussle for Whitland because they travel to the Brewery Field to take on a revitalised Bridgend that are unbeaten in the league and heading back to the Premier Division. Verdict: I’d love to see the Borderers complete the shock of the round but I think Bridgend will win.

Swalec Plate Round Two:

Kidwelly v Crymych
This is a real test for Crymych because opponents Kidwelly play in a section higher and are currently fifth in the table, with six wins from nine starts. Verdict: The Preseli Men are playing well and will go to Kidwelly with a positive attitude but this might be a test too big for them at the moment!

Swalec Bowl Round Three:

Aberaeron v Neyland
Neyland journey up the coast to Aberaeron in the Bowl competition and with a full squad they could upset the form book against a side only three places ahead of them in the league. Verdict: I’ll go for Aberaeron although I hope the All Blacks prove me wrong!

Tenby United v Fishguard & Goodwick
A mouth-watering clash this as Fishguard visit Tenby United, both teams topping their relevant sections but with the Seasiders a section higher than the Seagulls. Verdict: The forward battle here is one to relish but I think Tenby will go through in the end.

St Davids v Llanybydder
Another hard tussle for St Davids as they entertain Llanybydder, who are fourth in Division Four (West), with five wins and three defeats. The Saints are now 8th in Division Five (West). Having won three times from eight games. Verdict: Llanybydder – unfortunately!

Nantgaredig v Pembroke Dock Quins
Pembroke Dock Quins travel to Nantgaredig to play the top team from Division Six (West) so they will need to be at their best. The Quins are beginning to grow in confidence as they are tenth in Division Four (West) whilst Nantgaredig have won six league matches out of eight. Verdict: I hope the Quins win this one, if they are at something like full strength.

Division Five (West):

Pembroke v Penygroes
Pembroke play a re-arranged fixture at home to Penygroes, who are seventh in the table with three wins and three defeats. The Scarlets are fourth but very much in the promotion hunt – so will be eager to pouch the points here. Verdict: The Scarlets to win – and hopefully secure a bonus point too!
