The Expert takes an early slender lead over Manderwood Mob

Nothing has changed, as The Expert came out on top after the first week's results' challenge with the Motley Crew, oops sorry, I meant the The Manderwood Mob. They did to be fair put up a decent showing as they got five correct scores out of a possible seven. The Expert also got five correct - but his class showed as he has also predicted a right score, he got the Pennar Robins versus Clarbeston Road score bang on with a 5-2 home win, which now gives him a slender 6-5 lead, with three weeks to go. "It's like taking candy from a baby," crowed The Expert. "This lot think they know it all, but I suggest they should re-name their team 'Confused.com' can't wait for that so called Tansey fella to chance his arm against the master."

Roll on next week for another "walk in the park" for The Expert’ against the Motley Crew!

Beat the Expert Feature: Football Fixtures for 16th October 2010

This week we are delighted to re-introduce our popular ‘Beat the Expert’ feature and are pleased to start with our old friends from sponsors Manderwood, not least because they were so useless the other two seasons that we want to boost The Expert’s already-huge confidence with a win over the next four weeks.

“They were rubbish with Manderwood boss Chris Tansey giving his advice,” says our top tipster, “but without him they will be like headless chickens. He needn’t think he is going to escape, though, because I am throwing out the challenge to him to take on The Expert once I have duffed up his underlings.”

We decided to hold back so that the form book might help our challengers but a topsy-turvy start has left everyone grasping at straws in the tipping game. The format is exactly the same – one point for getting the result right and a bonus point for forecasting the actual score.

So will the Manderwood Mob beat our mystery man? Only time will tell – but somehow we doubt it!

Division One: (Results posted here on Saturday night)

Hakin United 6 - Goodwick United 1

Haverfordwest County 1 - Johnston 1

Herbrandston 5 - Kilgetty 1

Neyland 5 - Hundleton 1

Pennar Robins 5 - Clarbeston Road 2

Solva 3 - Merlins Bridge 3

Tenby 8 - Narberth 0

The Manderwood Mob Predictions

Division One:

Hakin United 3 - Goodwick United 1
Goodwick are a good side but we were unanimous that Hakin would win, perhaps because most of us played for the Vikings! We thought that Hakin, boosted by new signings Jamie Davies and Nicky Woodrow, might just have too much firepower for Goodwick.

Haverfordwest County 4 - Johnston 1
Haverfordwest are in great form and although Johnston are battlers, five of us went for them to win by either two or three goals – although Dai Malloy actually thinks it will be a draw!

Herbrandston 2 - Kilgetty 1
This could be a high-scoring match but after a lot of discussion three went for Herbie to win by the odd goal – but two went for a draw – and Dai Malloy again went for an away win!

Neyland 2 - Hundleton 1
Sean Hannon went for a 3-0 home win (but he plays for Neyland!) but Scott Davies and Paul Chapman voted for an away win – and Shaun Mills plumped for a draw!

Pennar Robins 4 - Clarbeston Road 1
All six of us picked Pennar to enjoy a home win over Clarbie – and all by a fairly high score – so this was one of our banker bets!

Solva 0 - Merlins Bridge 4
We were also unanimous on this one because Solva are conceding goals and the Bridge can rattle them in when they are on form.

Tenby 3 - Narberth 1
Paul Chapman felt this might be a draw but the rest of us picked Tenby, especially with home advantage.
