Rugby Preview for fixtures of

16th October 2010

Division One (West):

Felinfoel v Whitland
Whitland look for a win-hat-trick as they travel to meet Felinfoel, who have lost all six matches so far and have just three bonus points at the bottom of the table. Verdict: The Borderers played really well to beat Narberth and should have further success here if they can maintain their momentum.

Narberth v Bridgend Athletic
Narberth entertain a Bridgend Athletic side which is currently in sixth place, having wn two and drawn two of their six matches, and the Otters will be eager to return to winning ways after defeat at Whitland. Verdict: The Otters to win and maintain their interest at the top of the table.

Division Three (West):

Haverfordwest v Penclawdd
Penclawdd are third in the section table, with four wins from six starts, and will be eager to carry on from their win against Gorseinon last Saturday – but Haverfordwest did really well to share 62 points at Tumble and should be up for this challenge. Verdict: This is a tough one for the Blues but with home advantage I think they might just do it!

Llanelli Wanderers v Crymych
On paper this should be the banker bet of the day because Llanelli Wanderers have lost all six matches and don’t even have a bonus point, whilst Crymych have won all six games and sit proudly atop the table. Verdict: Unless they suffer a bad dose of over-confidence the Preseli Men should pocket another victory here.

Division Four (West):

Cardigan v Betws
Cardigan have won three of their five matches to sit in fifth place whilst Betws are a position below them with two wins from five outings. Verdict: The Teifisiders should take the verdict here and move up the table.

Cefneithin v Pembroke Dock Quins
This is a bottom of the table clash since Cefneithin are 10th and the Quins are 12th and still seeking their first win with their young and inexperienced side. Verdict: I hope the Quins can break their duck here but it is going to be hard!

Neyland v Tenby United
This local derby sees Neyland (11th in the table) taking on Tenby United in second place and so on paper a win for the visitors seems almost a formality. Verdict: I expect the Seasiders to win but if they turn up with the slightest hint of over-confidence they might just have a shock!

Trimsaran v Milford Haven
Milford are a far better team than their eighth place might suggest but they need to start a run of wins to restore their confidence, starting at Trimsaran, who are seventh in the table. Verdict: The Mariners are capable of beating Trim but they must play as a team and use their strengths.

Division Five (West):

Llangwm v Llandybie
Llangwm play host to Llandybie, who are one position above the Wasps in sixth spot, having won three of their five matches. Verdict: The Wasps should just about gain the verdict at Pill Parks, if they are at full strength!

Pembroke v St Davids
Another local derby where there could be a real contrast in styles. The Saints made a cracking start whilst the Scarlets can beat anyone on their day, but suffer lapses and lose matches unexpectedly. Verdict: The Scarlets should be too quick for the Saints, as long as they gain enough ball up front.

Swansea Uplands v Fishguard
Swansea Uplands have only won one match so far whilst Fishguard have lost just once at the other end of the table. Verdict: The Seagulls to soar in this tussle!
