Huw Bevan & sons tackle The Expert‘Beat the Expert’ Feature

Bevan Boys quick at the draw as the Expert closes in for the kill next week

For the second successive week the Bevan Boys drew 4-4 with the Expert. The Bevan Boys got the correct scoreline for the Merlins Bridge versus Pennar Robins clash to pick up valuable points. But the Expert was as consistent as ever and goes in to the final week with a two points lead. The Expert said, "Those Bevan Boys are getting better - but my banker result didn't happen this week, because of a waterlogged pitch - Yes Kilgetty would have definitely beaten those bunch of losers Clarbeston Road, and that would have won the day."

Saturday, 27th February 2010

The Expert and the Bevan Boys finished all square last Saturday as both got all the Senior Cup results right but didn’t have a clue in another Saturday of topsy-turvy league results.

It means that The Expert was still two points ahead at the half-way stage and as usual he was very quick to point out that three grown men should easily beat him – but adamant that it would take more than these ‘Clarbie Clowns’ to shoot him down!

“I know they are nice people – I have to admit that – but what do they know about football in that village anyway?

“They even had the temerity to suggest that I was copying their verdicts – now that really has got me mad so they had better be up for battle this weekend. They will need to get together every night with their chewed-down pencils and bits of paper pinched from work – and still won’t be any the better for it. Let’s face it, they were doomed from the start and I’m still amazed they took on the challenge!”

Huw spoke on behalf of the family as he admitted that the thought had crossed their minds that there might be some plagiarism going on by The Expert but was already looking forward to the challenge.

“When we win we will be able to smile at The Expert and say thanks for the challenge.”

The Expert’s reply is unprintable in a family web site!

The Bevan Boys’ Predictions:

Division One:

Goodwick United 2 - Tenby 1
It must be an omen – we all three put down exactly the same score!

Hakin United 4 - Prendergast Villa 1
The Villa are battlers but we all thought this would be a clear cut home win.

Herbrandston 1 - Monkton Swifts 1
I thought Herbie would win but I was shot down by the boys, who both went for a draw.

Kilgetty 1 - Clarbeston Road 2
I went for a draw but the lads said we had to be true to Clarbie – over-ruled again!

Merlins Bridge 2 - Pennar Robins 0
The Bridge should be back to winning ways in this one since the Robins have a weakened side in the league at the moment.

Narberth 2 - Solva 0
Solva are a bit unpredictable but we all agreed that this was a banker home win.

Neyland 1 - Haverfordwest County 2
Neyland are always strong at home but Haverfordwest should ease through here.
