Beat the Expert Feature:
(fixtures for 13th Feb 2010 - below)

The Expert opens up a two-point lead over the Bevan boys

The Expert put the Bevan boys in their place after gaining a 5-3 victory after the first round of predicitions. He gained the scalp of the Manderwood Mob last week, and the Expert finished the way where he left off by opening up a two-point gap. There were some strange results - as both struggling Monkton and Herbrandston gained surprise home wins. Top of the table Goodwick gained a five-goal home victory over Kilgetty. Haverfordwest County also crushed derby-rivals Prendergast Villa 5-1 on their home patch. The Expert predicted correctly that Merlins Bridge would defeat Hakin United 3-1 - and that result made all the difference to put him in the driving seat.

The Expert shows real class - when it counts

The Manderwood Mob were eased out by two points by The Expert in a tense and exciting finally to their battle for supremacy, leaving The Expert chuckling at the irony of the fact that his correct scorecast of the Goodwick United match provided the extra point he needed to edge through.

The Expert actually relaxed enough to praise the Manderwood Mob for pushing him into the final week but was soon back to his cocky best when he said,

“Mind you, if seven so-called football players and former players can’t beat one person, albeit someone like me who is rightly regarded as a top tipster, then it is a poor show. I kept them thinking they had a chance when, like last season, they were doomed from the start. My mole tells me that Dai Malloy won the sweep this week, only by being a traitor against his old club Hakin, so he ought to give me that cash for the Haiti Fund. Never mind lads, Tansey and Co can have a third attempt next season – and we might even let them join in the tipping for the Senior Cup Final build-up, if they behave themselves!"

Huw Bevan & sons tackle The ExpertThe Expert accepts a challenge

from the Bevan Boys

The Expert also beat Huw Bevan last season and has decided to give the popular former Clarbeston Road manager another chance – but this time assisted by his sons Tom and Richard, who respectively play in goal and up front for Clarbie.

“Huw Bevan might be regarded as a general good guy by all but he’ll get no sympathy from me because I’m, out to whip them, good and proper. I hope Tom is better at tipping results then being in goal because he lets in loads, whilst Richard had a bit of luck last week with two goals but normally couldn’t hit a barn door from ten yards. They’ve got no chance. My mole in the house tells me that Tom forecast a draw for the Senior Cup match and the other two had to point out that either Tenby or Narberth must win on the day!”

Huw’s response was typically measured as he told us,

“We will have a bit of fun and if we win then great – but we know we are up against a mighty man so we’ll see how things pan out over the next four weeks.”

PembrokeshireSport.co.uk wishes the Bevan Boys every success!

The Bevan Boys’ Predictions

Division One:

Goodwick United 3 - Kilgetty 2
Kilgetty had a cracking win against the Bridge but Goodwick away are a different kettle of fish – so we were unanimous about this one.

Herbrandston 1 - Pennar Robins 2
This will be a tight match and we all agreed on the result – but Tom went for a bigger scoreline.

Merlins Bridge 2 - Hakin United 1
Tom thought it would be a draw but Richard and I felt that the Bridge would have to bounce back quickly in this big game of the day.

Monkton Swifts 1 - Solva 2
We were unanimous here, with Solva to win by the odd goal in three.

Neyland 1 - Clarbeston Road 3
We had to for Clarbie, naturally, but it is going to be hard going against a good side.

Prendergast Villa 1 - Haverfordwest County 3
I felt it would be a 3-3 draw but was over-ruled by the boys, so we go for the County to win!

Senior Cup:

Tenby 1 - Narberth 2
The boys are biased because they play cricket in Narberth but after explaining the rules to Tom about extra time and penalties were all agreed on this one!
