Beat the Expert Feature

Expert wins as Manderwood Mob crack under pressure

The Expert showed his class for the second year in a row to pick up yet another victory over the Manderwood Mob. The Expert amazingly gained eight points to the Manderwood Mob's six to win outright by 26-24. "I knew the seven amigos would crack," gloated the Expert. Tansey's crew let their hearts rule their heads as they plumped for Hakin United to win at Goodwick United. "Big mistake. And to think seven of them couldn't beat me - true to form they're a bunch of losers." The Expert was confident that Goodwick would win because they did do the double over the Vikings last season and this year they drew at the Obs. So guess what? Bernie Armstrong's boys did the business to ease the Expert first over the finish line.
Just to rub salt into the Manderwood Mob's wounds, the Expert got the score correct as well, to gain maximum points and shatter the so called magnificent seven's hearts. Not so magnificent now!

All square with a week to go!

Manderwood Mob confident of victoryThe Manderwood Mob caused something of an upset last Saturday as they outscored The Expert by two points to set up a fascinating finale where they are locked together on the same total – and with five division one games and three West Wales Cup games to forecast the results before the winner is decided.

“We really have a head of steam up now,” said Chris Tansey, boss at Manderwood, “and we are confident that our combined decision-making has paid real dividends. So Mr Expert had better look out on Saturday because we really are confident of beating him now.”

Although understandably a little down-beat after his loss last Saturday, The Expert was still eager to point out that his football know-how is far greater than the opposition.

“If seven of them can’t beat me then they should be ashamed of themselves. But Tansey is an old-timer well past his sell-by date, as are Paul Chapman, Shaun Mills and Dai Malloy. Sean Hannon thinks Neyland can beat everyone, Scott Davies is too slow at Hakin and Skinny Harding can only just get in Milford United’s side so they are a motley crew. My mole in their camp tells me that Tansey, Mills, Hannon and Harding tied for their internal competition last week – but we’ll see how they get on now!”

But it all comes down to Saturday, when the banter ends and the results will be shown – so watch this space then!

 The Manderwood Mobs’ Predictions

Division One:

Clarbeston Road 2 - Prendergast Villa 1
This was our toughest to predict because we had three draws and four home wins – so we went for Clarbie by a single goal.

Goodwick United 2 - Hakin United 3
Five of us thought Hakin would win whilst Justin Harding chose the draw and Dai Malloy picked his own club to lose – what a traitor (“He just wants to win the £15” said The Expert!

Haverfordwest County 3 - Herbrandston 1
We were unanimous on this one – and by two clear goals.

Kilgetty 1 - Merlins Bridge 3
Chris Tansey went for the draw (£15 again!) but the rest of us all felt the Bridge would be comfortable winners.

Tenby 3 - Solva 1
We were all agreed on this one – Tenby to win with something in hand.

West Wales Cup:

Bwlch 2 - Neyland 1
Only Sean Hannon felt Neyland would win (obviously!), Chris Tansey plumped for another draw (groan!) and the other five felt Bwlch would just shade out the Nomads.

Narberth 3 - Wellfield 0
All unanimous here - Narberth too strong for Wellfield!

Pennar Robins 2 - Morriston Olympic 1
Six home wins forecast but Sean Hannon picked an away win because the Robins haven’t been playing well lately.
