Big freeze ends any hope of football in Pembrokeshire
Once again the cold snap distrupts all football fixtures in Pembrokeshire. No football was played as heavy snow and frozen pitches meant that not one ball was kicked in anger. The Manderwood Mob were confident that they would have been beaten 'The Expert' - but surely next week some action will go ahead - of course, weather permitting!
Manderwood confident they can still topple 'The Expert'
Once again the weather intervened to spoil Saturday’s league programme so we will consider this week’s matches in division one as week two in the contest between our ace predictor and the motley crew from Manderwood’s.
The Expert still leads by two points and when Manderwood said they thought he might give them a bonus point for being closer to the Goodwick United v Prendergast Villa scoreline last Saturday his comment was unprintable!
“Mr Tansey and his henchmen, who have experience with Hakin, Neyland and Milford United, really ought to be doing better but I’ll keep dividing them and being two cagey for seven opponents. They have no chance of winning and this terrible weather is only delaying the inevitable!”
Chris Tansey was very upbeat as the Manderwood spokesman.
“We are really looking forward to starting again and if Daisy Picton can outsmart him then we will make The Expert pay for his comments about us!”
Division One (Results to appear here on Saturday evening) - All games postponed
Clarbeston Road v Haverfordwest County
Goodwick United v Hakin United
Merlins Bridge v Kilgetty
Narberth v Monkton Swifts
Prendergast Villa v Neyland
Solva v Herbrandston
Tenby v Pennar Robins
The Manderwood Mob’s Predictions:
Clarbeston Road 1 - Haverfordwest County 3
We were 100% in favour of an away win, with the highest being 0-5 so we went somewhere in the middle.Goodwick United 2 - Hakin United 2
This was a tough one where we were split right down the middle and so we sat on the fence here and picked a score draw!Merlins Bridge 4 - Kilgetty 1
All of us went for the Bridge, other than Sean Hannon (he said 3-3!) and we thought they would win with ease.Narberth 3 - Monkton Swifts 1
We had six home wins and a draw here so we felt a two-goal margin was about right.Prendergast Villa 1 - Neyland 2
Two went for a home win and four thought Neyland would win (Sean said 3-0 to the Nomads since he would be playing!) and we decided an away win by the odd goal in three.Solva 2 - Herbrandston 1
We had five voting for a home win and two for a score draw – and gave it to Solva with home advantage.Tenby 3 - Pennar Robins 1
Same again – five home wins and two score draws so we went for Tenby to win by two clear goals. The Experts Scorecasts:
Clarbeston Road 1 - Haverfordwest County 4
Goodwick United 2 - Hakin United 1
Merlins Bridge 4 - Kilgetty 0
Narberth 3 - Monkton Swifts 0
Prendergast Villa 1 - Neyland 2
Solva 2 - Herbrandston 0
Tenby 1 - Pennar Robins 0
