Notes:- These charts show how the fortunes of teams have fluctuated throughout the season.

Cresselly prove the truth of the old saying . "The only time when being at the top of the table matters, is at the end of the final day of the season". With the exception of one week (commencing on 27th June) Cresselly have not headed the table until the close of the 18th set of fixtures. Congratulations to Cresselly, and commiseration to Carew, who played a full part in such a close-fought race.

Llangwm’s relegation fate looked fairly predictable from mid-season onwards, and Whitland appeared favourites to join then in Division 2 for 2010; but Hook failed to build upon back-to-back wins in mid-July and Whitland completed a great late-season run to climb to mid-table safety.

After Narberth had recovered from a poor start-of-season ; Lawrenny, Neyland, Narberth and St Ishmaels matched each other fairly closely through the rest of the season, swapping the mid-table positions quite regularly.

Haverfordwest made an impressive start to the season, and topped the table for several weeks with a consistent string of hi-points matches through May and early June, but a faltering set of results in late June and July allowed Carew and Cresselly to overhaul them, leaving Haverfordwest having to settle for 3rd place.

With only five points between Carew and Cresselly before the final set of matches, there was everything to play for. Cresselly efficiently secured maximum points in their match; and after establishing a strong position in their match, Carew were to fall a mere eight runs short of winning the title . . .

By mid-way through the season, any pair from eight teams were still in with a realistic chance of gaining the two promotion spots: Herbrandston eventually pulled ahead of the pack, but a strong finnish to Saundersfoot's season meant that Herbrandston needed every single one of their bonus-points (from their loss on the closing day) in order to bag the title by the narrowest of margins.

The other key story from Division 2 must be the swings in fortunes for Burton and Fishguard.

For two-thirds of the season, Burton looked to be doomed, while Fishguard still had ambitions at the top end of the table; but Burton staged a remarkable recovery, and when Fishguard's pitch was deemed to be too wet for their final fixture (which also denied Carew II a crack at the 2nd place spot), Burton grabbed the opportunity to attain Division 2 safety, thus consigning Fishguard to Division 3 cricket next season.    Fishguard must be regretting their higher-than-average number of abandoned matches.

Apart from a few 'wobbles' early-season, and in mid-July, Whitland II maintained league-winning form throughout.

A fine start by St Ishmaels II was followed by a poor mid-season, but a costly points-deduction (caused by fielding an unregistered player) would prove decisive in the scrap with Hundleton to avoid relegation.

For the first two-thirds of the season, Llechryd were mired in a similar battle with Hundleton, but a late string of fine results for Llechryd, including wins against Pembroke Dock and Whitland II, turned their season around.

Division 4 was probably the tightest of all six divisions, with all issues undecided until close of play on the 29th August.

After leading the table for more than half the season, Llangwm II suffered the agony of missing out on promotion by just two points, as a result of last-day wins for Johnston II and Haverfordwest III.

Hook II managed to pull-off a 'Great Escape' on the last day, while Kilgetty's poor end-of-season run most have had nerves jangling.

Regrettably, the 2009 Division 5 season was disrupted by Manorbier's withdrawal from the League after the fixtures had been set.

Cresselly III's win-less run in the second half of the season must be one of the only issues of concern at the Club, after Cresselly's numerous successes in other areas during 2009.

Carew III were Division 5's clear leaders for most of the season, and were unfortunate to have their last fixture (against Llechryd II ) cancelled due to a sodden pitch : this left both the relegation and league title issues to be settled by the nail-biter of a match between Camrose & Spittal II and Llanrhian II. The only consolation for Carew is that their III XI  WILL be playing in Division 4 in 2010.

Apart from their II XI's rally over the last few fixtures, there can be few points of consolation at Camrose & Spittal CC, with both teams suffering relegation.

Division 6 started the season with an odd-number of teams.

The fixture timetable was further disrupted when Kilgetty II withdrew from the division after only three weeks - this also voided points awarded for the first three Kilgetty II fixtures.

As each weeks' set of fixtures featured at least two teams without a match, and with the implementation of several incidences of point-deductions and awards for all manner of League Rule infringements, interpretation of the Division 6 season as a whole is difficult. The key thing which is clear, is that Haverfordwest IV managed to pull ahead of the pack at exactly the right time of the season.
