Organiser of the Year:

Lynn leads Tenby by example

Lynn Delerbertouche, Hon Secretary, Tenby Bowling Club

Winner, Organiser of the Year Category

Lynn Delabertouche - Club OrganiserLynn Delerbertouche was acknowledged as winner of the ‘Organiser of the Year’ category for her terrific work at Tenby Bowls Club because for several years Lynn has organised the club and everyone in it.

Huge programme to organise

As Tournament Secretary she organises endless games that have to be played through a hectic season, with no fewer than 22 matches, home and away, plus all the open tournaments. This is a major undertaking because it includes the prestigious Open Gold Cup, Silver Cup, and the Five Arches Cups which run alongside each other through a single week and attract entries from all over South Wales and even further afield.

12 hour stints for tournaments

She sets up at 7.30 am and is still there at 7.30 pm, plus organising entertainment for the hundreds who travel from all over for this event. Other events that demand great commitment on Lynn’s part include the Open – Chevron/Texaco Pairs Tournament, Open – mixed triples, Rossiters Cup, Corals Cup, Open – Ladies week, all club competitions, county games / finals.

Jill of all trades

She coaches school Groups, helping to identify new talent, is captain of Tenby Ladies who were league winners in 2008 and 2009. Personal wins include mixed pairs, ladies pairs & West Wales Rinks winners.
She is a match sponsor, the Website organiser, orders merchandise for the club shop and organises fundraising for many causes. This lady continuously leads by example and her demeanour speaks volumes for her huge part at Tenby Bowling Club.

Royston Badham – Hon Secretary, Pembrokeshire Karting Club

Finalist, Organiser of the Year Category

Royston Badham had a desire to bring motorsport that was both affordable and accessible to the people of Pembrokeshire, and that dream was realised in 2009 with the first Pembrokeshire Karting Championships.
After years of organising competitions amongst friends, Royston attempted and succeeded in broadening the championships horizons, attracting quality drivers from all over the county. Royston has displayed fine negotiation skills, by attracting sponsors to the championships, as well as dealing with local media.
He has also dealt with all enquiries from participants about future events. The event has proved an exciting spectacle and has caught the imagination of all those involved. With the plans for the 2010 season already underway, the Championships look set to grow, largely down to Royston’s hard work and commitment.

Angela Miles, Hon Secretary, Pembrokeshire Warriors Football Club

Finalist, Organiser of the Year Category

Angela Miles is the secretary of Cleddau Warriors AFC (disability club). The club has grown from strength to strength with players being given a pathway to play from juniors to seniors, with Angela’s enthusiasm and commitment playing a major part as she does much of the work involved, and always with a smile.
Because of the fact that there are no teams nearby that the Warriors can play against, the club has no option but to play in the South Wales League and this league has teams affiliated to it from as far away as Newport, Gwent, so the demand of travelling is great.

Part of the commitment of playing in this league is to host a club festival on a seasonal basis and Angela has been involved in organising this for the club over the last few years. This has been a massive success with in excess of 20 teams playing in the last few organised. Angela works exceptionally hard on behalf of the club and thoroughly deserves to be recognised.
