Spare a thought for Bernardo as ‘Pricey’ tries his luck!
Bernie Armstrong is as sick as a pig. His team lost 3-1 at home against Clarbeston Road. His beloved Chelsea lost 2-1 against Aston Villa. There was a glimmer of good news for Bernardo as he beat the Expert 4-3 this week, but overall he still lost by a single point to make it three defeats in just one day for the popular Goodwick United manager!
The Expert told him last week that he was only teasing Bernardo into thinking how good he is, but as the Expert explained, even when you are losing late on - you have to have that knack of when the final whistle is blown you have still had enough in the tank to win. Better luck next year Bernardo. As the Expert gloats, another one bites the dirt!
This week end we are delighted to welcome effervescent young Merlins Bridge manager Matthew Price to take on The Expert, with ‘Pricey’ full of enthusiasm and confidence that he can knock our tipster off his perch.
The Expert simply chuckled and said,
“Just because this young whipper-snapper’s team is doing OK so far doesn’t mean he can beat me. Looking at all the games in Division One needs precision and my mole tells me that he actually came in from the garden on a beautiful sunny day, just to spend hours with the form book. What a waste of his time – he would have been better off planting his spuds!”
Division One Results (To appear here on Saturday):
Hakin United 2 - Goodwick United 2
Haverfordwest County 6 - Clarbeston Road 0
Kilgetty 4 - Monkton Swifts 0
Merlins Bridge 4 - Narberth 0
Pennar Robins 2 - Neyland 1
Prendergast Villa 1 Solva 1
Tenby 3 - Herbrandston 0
Matthew Price’s Predictions
Division One:
Hakin United 2 - Goodwick United 0
Hakin will feel they have had a poor start by their superb standings but they are still in the hunt. Goodwick have done quite well in the past against Hakin but I think they will need to be on top form after Hakin demolished Haverfordwest County.Haverfordwest County 1 - Clarbeston Road 1
It should be Haverfordwest County according to the league table but they have lost two on the trot. Clarbie will be buzzing after their first win last Saturday – and I think they might snatch a draw.Kilgetty 1 - Monkton Swifts 3
The Swifts should win this one comfortably after winning well at Solva – and Kilgetty are leaking goals at the moment.
Merlins Bridge 3 - Narberth 1
I have to go for us but our players know just how hard this match is going to be. Narberth are a very good team but we know their strengths and have home advantage as a bonus.
Pennar Robins 4 - Neyland 1
Pennar should have too much fire-power for Neyland, who have only scored seven goals so far. The Nomads will have to find a few goals at Bush Camp because the Robins are strong at home.Prendergast Villa 2 - Solva 1
I think the Villa can upset the form book here after grabbing their first win last weekend with six goals against Kilgetty. Solva lost and will be looking to fight back – but I’ll go for the Villa!Tenby 2 - Herbrandston 1
Tenby are a really good side who have made a terrific start after promotion but Herbie battled really hard against us last Saturday and I expect the final result to be far closer than many people think. The Expert’s Scorecasts
