Beat the Expert FeatureIt’s the football season again and after three matches played we think we have given our resident Expert enough information to give him a head start over any candidates in the ‘Punter’s Class’ who think they can beat him. As with last year’s competition we ask both candidates to forecast the result and score of all first division matches played on a Saturday, with a point for the correct result and TWO POINTS for the correct score.
Only Daisy Picton managed a sneak win last season over a four-week period and again we will be giving local pundits a chance to outsmart our ‘Smarty Pants’. Again we start this campaign with ubiquitous Goodwick United manager Bernie Armstrong and if you think you know more than Big Bernardo or The Expert then all you need to do is use our contact page and have a bash alongside them. Daisy Picton, Steve Batty (Herbrandston) and the Boys from Manderwood have already thrown down the gauntlet but we don’t mind who takes part and gets beaten by ‘The Expert’!
Hakin won’t want to lose again at home and Solva will have lost a couple of key players back to college so they might not be at full strength – and it’s never easy at The Obs!
Derek Roberts is a canny boss and he has some good young players at his disposal, but Mike Lewis has done it all and will push his team - but so I go for the Bluebirds because they have home advantage.
It’s nice to see Kilgetty back in the top division but they will take some to settle and Steve Batty’s boys have that little extra experience which could prove vital.
The Bridge are a cracking side but we are well motivated for a trip to Haverfordwest. Jay Brockway has been scoring goals and the whole team are up for it – so I think we can win!
The Swifts are in a transition period so it will be interesting to see how they get on. Clarbie played well in away matches last season and could have too much fire-power for the Swifts.
We played the Villa and they looked quite sharp – but Narberth are a well-drilled outfit and I think they will just edge a home win by the odd goal in five!
Neyland are always in with a shout at home but Pennar have looked sharp at the start of the season and they have just a little too much fire-power for the home side.
