Match 1 (Cresselly versus Haverfordwest)

Cresselly cruise to top of table after ten-wicket victory

2.	Richard Harris - bowled really well for CressellyCresselly (82 for 0) beat Haverfordwest (81 all out)

Umpires: Rob Bellerby & Peter Perry

Scorers: Lois Howlett-Dyer & Jayne Cole

Cresselly cruised to the top of the table as they crushed previous leaders Haverfordwest by ten wickets in a match billed by the pundits as a certain run-fest but in reality a one-sided affair as The Town failed to fire in the batting stakes and the game was effectively over at tea time.

Cresselly skipper Simon Cole won the vital toss and decided to field first, with Haverfordwest under immediate pressure as Lyn Richards and Stefan Jenkins reduced them to the rubble of 17 for 4. Dai Davies (24) and Phil Kirkby (15) started to redress the balance a little as they put on 29 runs but then Kirkby was well caught by Phil Williams off the tantalising slow stuff from Ryan Lewis. Dai Davies followed 12 runs later as he nudged a catch to keeper Neilson Cole off the ultra-accurate Richard Harris and, apart from double figures from skipper Huw Scriven, it was downhill all the way for The Town with a disappointing tally of 81 all out.

Harris finished with fine figures of 3 for 12 alongside Lewis (3 for 22), Jenkins (2 for 16) and Richards (2 for 29) – not bad going for an attack not generally regarded as the top in the section against a batting line up thought to be one of the best!

It was just as one-sided after tea when Phil Williams and Andrew Harris rightly decided that they should go about their business with some gusto and both had eight boundaries whilst Harris belted one six in his top score of 41 as Williams was the perfect foil with 37 not out. They reached their target in only 13.5 overs and swept to the top of the table, whilst Haverfordwest drop to third place behind Carew.

Match 2 (Hook versus Carew)

Hook come down to earth with a bump

3.	Carew's Rob Scourfield en route to 6 for 22 against HookHook 124 all out) lost Carew (127 for 2)

Umpires: Dennis Chiffi & John Austin

Scorers: Chloe James & Mike Scourfield

After two successive victories Hook were brought back to earth with something of a bump as Carew dismissed them for 124 and reached their target for the loss of only two wickets in 29.1 overs.

Yet another big Hook score seemed on the cards early on as in-form openers Ben Field and Jamie Phelps added 63 runs for the first wicket until Carew skipper Rob Scourfield made an impact when he trapped Phelps lbw for 17 and followed up with a similar dismissal for No 3 Ross Martin.

Field looked a classy batsman as he hit nine fours and two sixes in his top score of 62 before he was leg before to leg-spinner Ceri Brace, who supported Scourfield well in his 3 for 38 spell, and of the other Hook batsmen only Tom Blaxland and Matthew Holder managed double figures as Scourfield ended up with a splendid 6 for 22 haul and Simon Wood grabbed the other wicket on offer.

Ian Sefton and Nick Scourfield gave Carew a good start in reply before Sefton was adjudged lbw to Jamie Phelps for 21, with three fours and a six included.

Brian Hall joined Nick Scourfield, who looked assured of another half century but fell leg before to Andrew Thomas having struck seven boundaries in his 49 runs, and it fell to Hall (five fours in his 30 not out) and Simon Wood (12 not out from three fours) to ensure a win for Carew which keeps them very much in contention for the silverware in second spot in the table.

Match 3 (Llangwm versus Lawrenny)

4.	Will Beresford off-drives a ball for four runsLawrenny win last-gasp thriller

Llangwm (208 for 7) lost to Lawrenny (209 for 9)

Umpires: Dave Brandon & Tony Waldeis

Scorer: Malcolm Thomas

There were chewed nails aplenty at Pill Parks as Llangwm built a good total against Lawrenny and the game remained a tight one until Lawrenny’s last man Richard Prout and Ian Jenkins scrambled a single off the last ball of the match to secure a nerve-jangling one-wicket win.

Put in to bat first, Llangwm lost Joseph Kiff and Gary Phillips early on to Prout and Luke Brock was shifted by Steve Lewis but Will Beresford (37) and Andrew Harris (38) built a good partnership of 62 as Beresford stroked five boundaries and Harries struck four fours and two sixes. When they departed, Ian Phillips took up the cudgel for Llangwm with an excellent undefeated 47 that included four fours and three sixes as Chris Inward (36 not out) joined him in adding lots of late runs with three sixes included for Inward as Llangwm skated past the 200 mark, with Prout (2 for 31) and Rob Williams (3 for 56) as the pick of the Lawrenny bowlers.

Andrew Cole anchored the Lawrenny response as Brad Jenkins and James Buckle both chipped in with 16 runs and there was decent support from James Phillips (27) and Steve Lewis (22). Andrew Cole eventually departed for 64 (ten fours and a six) and as wickets fell it became clear that it was anyone’s game. But Ian Jenkins, as he has done so often for Lawrenny, kept his cool and had three fours and two sixes in a vital 38 not out so that the last over came with Lawrenny needing two runs from the last three balls. A single and a ‘dot ball’ left it all on the last ball where Messrs Prout and Jenkins became the Lawrenny heroes, leaving Llangwm with little to show for a battling effort.

Match 4 (Narberth versus Neyland)

Mike tips the scales Narberth’s way

Mike Scale top scored for Narberth in their win over NeylandNarberth (146 for 4) beat Neyland (145 for 6)

Umpires: Walter Dash & Tony Scourfield

Scorers: Cath Adams & John Laugharne

An excellent undefeated half century by Mike Scale helped Narberth beat Neyland in an absorbing clash at the Lewis Lloyd Ground where the visitors reached 145 for 6 but couldn’t stop Scale and Wayne Howells seeing their side home with wickets and overs to spare.

Scott John (28) and Paul Murray (24) gave Neyland a solid start which was continued by skipper Andrew Miller (28) but Kyle Quartermaine (2 for 21) and Matthew Johns (3 for 33) hauled Narberth back in to contention so that although Patrick Bellerby (21 not out) and Phil Davies (21) gave some late momentum a final tally of 145 for 6 was good, without being brilliant.

Patrick Hannon struck an early blow for Neyland after tea when he removed Narberth captain Ritchie Adams cheaply but Howells had six fours in his 47 before he fell to Andrew Miller, whilst Scale looked a class act as he stroked five fours in his 55 not out. Phil Davies claimed two wickets for Neyland but Kyle Quartermaine completed a good personal performance with 17 before he was caught at long-on and it was left to Aaron Keane to join Scale on the late-run-in to a victory which sees Narberth now elevated to fourth place in the table as their reward.

Match 5 (St Ishmaels versus Whitland)

1.	Peter Bradshaw - top scored for Tish Whitland hold on for tame draw

St Ishmaels (206 for 7) drew with Whitland (122 for 8)

Umpires: Alan Hansen & Steve Blowes

Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw& Janice Webb

St Ishmaels were held to a draw by Whitland but secured all the bonus points as some consolation as they scored 206 for 7 and Whitland were forced to settle on 122 for 8 as only Paul Davies looked settled out of their regular run getters.

Tish skipper Peter Bradshaw led the way for his team with a hard-hitting 74 (eight fours), ably assisted by Jonathan Pawlett (41) and Andrew Williams 37, whilst Phil Cockburn chipped in with a undefeated 19 at the end against useful bowling by Matthew ‘Titch’ Davies, who claimed 4 for 61.

Paul Davies had three fours in his 31 after Dai Lee had fallen early to Pawlett and Danny Flynn started to wreak a little havoc with his off-spinners in a 6 for 28 spell from 12 overs. His haul included a fine return catch to get rid of Johnny Thomas and it was left to skipper Mark Lee (10 not out) to join veteran all-rounder Paul Webb (19 not out) in saving the game but not being able to get within 70 runs of the opposition to start claiming draw points.
