Welsh Junior Schools’ Finals - - Tom Yeoman Shield

Pembrokeshire junior schools' under11sPembrokeshire’s talented young under 11 footballers carried the county’s junior schools’ flag with distinction, as winners of the southern section of the Welsh Schools’ Primary Football Competition,  in the Welsh finals at Porthmadog - and only a whisker of goal difference stopped them from reaching the play-off stages against the other top teams in Wales.
They took their place in a highly competitive atmosphere, and performed well, and were complimented on their standard of football, their sportsmanship and attitude off the pitch by the organisers. Pembrokeshire played in the strongest group, which also included Flintshire, Conwy and Swansea and they just missed getting into the semi-final by one goal difference which saw Flint and Swansea go through.
This was very disappointing after having had such a great season, getting to the finals unbeaten, but a disappointing five minute spell in the B team game against Swansea proved to be fatal as they conceded three goals in quick succession.

Pembrokeshire v Flint
A Team lost 0-1
B Team drew 0-0

Pembrokeshire v Conwy
A Team won 2-0 (scorer Jack Parkinson 2)
B Team drew 0-0

Pembrokeshire v Swansea
A Team won 2-1 (scorers George Taylor, Scott Jones)
B Team lost 0-4

Congratulations to all the boys who played in the finals and throughout the competition. They were a credit to their schools and football clubs and did Pembrokeshire proud.
Thanks to the parents for all their unfailing support over the season, especially those who made the long journey to Porthmadog.
A Presentation Night will be arranged and players will be informed of the date and venue, where their wonderful achievements will be recognised properly.
