Match 1 - Llangwm versus Haverfordwest

Llangwm (121 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (122 for 0)

Richard James strikes a six for Haverfordwest in their 10 wicket win at LlangwmAn impressive spell of bowling by Josh Wilment helped Haverfordwest put the skids under Llangwm’s innings before an equally impressive opening partnership by Danny Potter and Richard James helped The Town to a comfortable ten-wicket win.
Steve Phillips had caused early problems for Llangwm as the veteran medium pacer claimed two early wickets but then Will Beresford looked impressive en route to a good half century and found support from Luke Brock (39) before wily old fox Clive Tucker tempted Beresford into a big hit and Dai Davies took a cracking catch after Beresford had already plundered eight fours and a six in his 53.
Luke Brock rapped four boundaries and a six as he again looked in form but he was well caught by Adam James to give Wilment a promising start to his second spell where he grabbed three wickets in for balls and ended up with an impressive 4 for 19 haul. Adam James and Phil Kirkby took wickets and a good catch apiece as Llangwm nose-dived from 111 for 3 to 121 all out.
The Town opening pairing of Potter and James have made a cracking start to the campaign and followed their stand of 120 the previous week with a string of boundaries from disappointing Llangwm bowling and soon sped past 50 and then the three-figure mark. Potter did loft one shot just short of two players and appeals for a slip catch were turned down since the ball had hit his arm but he included 11 lovely boundaries in his unbeaten 61. James stroked a six over long on and added six fours in his 57 not out and they gave The Town victory by ten wickets from only 24 overs.

Match 2 - Whitland versus Neyland

Whitland hold out for draw

Paul Murray - top scored for Neyland at WhitlandWhitland (130 for 9) drew
with Neyland (162 all out)

Whitland managed to hold out for the draw against Neyland as teenager Scott Newton blocked out the last over to deny Neyland what would have been a good win but they picked up 20 points to gain some consolation.
Asked to bat first, Neyland had steady starts from Scott John (18), Ashley Sutton (13) and Andrew Milne (17) whilst Paul Murray looked in good nick with a four and a six in his 38 runs alongside Nick Kooman (27).
Mark Lee led Whitland with 2 for 30 and brother David came on late to pick up 3 for 22 alongside Carl Smith (2 for 20) as Neyland lost their way a little until Paul Miller joined the fray at No 9 and scored a useful 27 (three fours and a six) before he was run out in a late chase for runs.
The Whitland innings suffered an early set-back as Ashley Sutton shifted Dai Lee but Jonathan Thomas contributed 16 before he went and Paul Davies and Steve Fraser both scored 34 runs, Fraser particularly aggressive with six fours and a six before he was tweaked out by Phil Davies. Patrick Hannon bowled a typically tight spell of 2 for 27 in his 12 overs and Although Kevin Pearce added 23 runs the home side were up against it as Scott John claimed 3 for 15 alongside Andrew Miller (2 for 23).
There was real consternation as mark Lee went first ball and Carl Smith also recorded a duck to bring Dan Newton and Nico Setaro together – but the youngsters better known for their rugby skills saved Whitland’s bacon on this occasion!

Match 3 - Carew versus St Ishmaels

Tish tail-enders hold out

Carew (227 for 3) drew with St Ishmaels (139 for 9)

Tim Hicks - blistering innings for Carew versus TishSt Ishmaels last pair of James Salter and Paul Palmer batted for over nine overs to deny Carew a win that appeared all too likely at one stage but the Villagers managed to accumulate enough points to ensure top place in the table as a consolation.
Carew lost Ian Sefton cheaply as he was bowled by Andrew Palmer but Nick Scourfield dropped anchor as he does so well and Brian Hall struck 22 before he was run out to make his side 35 for 2 – and then Wayne Cannon fired four fours and three sixes in his boisterous 58 before he was bowled by off-spinner Danny Flynn after the Scourfield-Cannon partnership had shared 108 runs.
It was just the right time for Tim Hicks to arrive at the crease and unleash his full array of shots as he smashed his way to 50 from only 33 deliveries and finished up on 61 not out which included five fours and four big sixes. Scourfield carried his bat for 61 runs (four fours and a six) and Carew ended up on an impressive 227 for only three wickets.
Tish were soon in trouble as Cannon caught both openers Peter Bradshaw and Andrew Williams off Rhys Davies’ pacy stuff and with Stewart Kimpton, Jonathan Pawlett and Phil Cockburn back in the hutch their total of 70 for 5 owed much to Andrew Palmer, who had a cracking innings of 70 (five fours and four sixes) before he was out to Carew captain Rob Scourfield.
Carew had wicket braces from Davies, Hicks, Ceri Brace and Rob Scourfield 70 reduce Tish 130 for 9 but Salter showed real composure for his 14 not out and last man Paul Palmer stayed with him to prevent Carew taking maximum points for their superiority on the day.

Match 4 Lawrenny versus Cresselly

Lawrenny lose top spot

Simon Cole - led Cresselly to victory over Lawrenny with 64 runsLawrenny 135 (all out) lost
to Cresselly (136 for 4)

Lawrenny were pushed off top spot in the table by neighbours Cresselly as the home side struggled a little with the bat and found it hard to get back into contention as Phil Williams and Cresselly captain Simon Cole took charge.
Opening bat Andrew Cole was again in good form as he top scored for Lawrenny with 53 runs (eight fours and two sixes) but saw four wickets tumble at the other end from an inspired spell of bowling by Lyn Richards, his 12 overs earning him figures of 4 for 31.
Richard Harries (2 for 11 in 12 miserly overs) and Ryan Lewis (2 for 34) gave plenty of support as James Phillips, Richard Prout (two sixes in his 18) and Hugh Griffiths all managed double figures  and although Stefan Jenkins was expensive his two wickets helped restrict Lawrenny to a total of 135 all out.
Lawrenny knew they needed a similarly good start and hopes were raised as Richard Prout had James Venables caught by Steve Lewis for just five runs – but then Williams and Cole added 101 runs in good time until teenager Brad Jenkins came on with his slow stuff and Williams was bowled for 41 (six fours).
Jenkins continued with the prized scalps of Ryan Lewis and Cole for 64 (five fours and two sixes) from a well-taken return catch to return figures of 3 for 14 but it was too late to influence matters as Cresselly totalled 136 for 4 wickets in the 30th over.

Match 5 - Hook versus Narberth

Hook fall just short of first win

Ross Martin plays a superb shot en route to his fine 84 against NarberthHook (169 for 6) drew with
Narberth (109 for 9)

Hook came within a whisker of grabbing their first win back in division one but Narberth battled hard to deny them in an absorbing clash where fortunes ebbed and swayed throughout.
Ross Martin was the key figure for Hook in the batting stakes with ten boundaries in his classy 84 before he was removed by the combined efforts of Kyle and Ben Quartermaine. His only real ally in terms of time spent the crease was Brennan Martin, who shared a stand of 58 and whose composed 31 not out had two sixes, whilst Keith James with 10 not out at the end saw Hook to a respectable 169 for 6 wickets. Richard Howell used his experience to good effect with 3 for 29 as the pick of the Narberth bowlers.
Ross Martin and Jamie Phelps soon made inroads into the visiting batting line-up after tea and it needed a strong 30 from Kyle Quartermaine to bolster their reply before he was bowled by Ben Field with the assistance of a Tom Blaxland catch. Field grabbed 3 for 20 in his first spell for some time and Matthew Holder chipped in with two wickets but Ben Quartermaine (17) and Mike Johns, defying a groin strain sustained early on in the field, managed to keep Narberth from being dismissed cheaply. Johns was finally dismissed from the last ball of the match but it mattered little because they still had Tom Bevan to come to the crease and so a hard-fought draw was the final verdict.
