Pembrokeshire Rugby Preview

for 2nd May, 2009

Just plain hopeless!

What a hopeless Saturday which shows that trying to predict results at this time of the season is a very tricky business and only attempted by dopes like me!

Seven out of 12 right is hardly anything to boast about but the only thing I can say in my favour is that at least I gave it a bash and when teams like Tenby travel with 12 men it is impossible to stick by a verdict!

Division One (West):

Narberth v Tonmawr
This is a hard tussle for the Otters because Tonmawr are a strong side and are assured of second spot in the table. Both sides will want to finish with a good win and I hope that Narberth come out on top – although I won’t be surprised if Ton win narrowly!

Whitland v Bonymaen
Bonymaen beat Narberth last weekend but won’t relish a trip to Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn as they meet a Whitland side eager to return to winning ways after defeat at Maesteg last Saturday. It will be close but I expect the Borderers to come through – but not by a big margin.

Division Three (West):

Crymych v Aberystwyth
Another very tough match for Crymych against the Aberystwyth team just above them in the table and eagerly seeking promotion. I hope Crymych can raise the tempo just once more to round off a superb season with a home win.

Division Five (West):

Furnace v Milford Haven
What a battle for Milford as they look for the silverware and play third-placed Furnace in as tough an way fixture as they could have at this stage. It is sure to ne hard for Alan McClelland’s boys but I am confident they can do it!

St Clears v Fishguard and Goodwick
The Saints are always strong at home so much will depend on what sort of team Fishguard can put out. I have to go for the Saints, although I hope the Seagulls soar for this one!

St  Davids v Pontyates
The Saints will be full of confidence after last week’s victory and they are well capable of beating Pontyates at home. No doubts for me – I’ll go for Ty Ddewi for another win!
