Match 1 - Haverfordwest versus Cresselly

Phil Williams plays a cover drive en route to his classy century for Cresselly at Haverfordwest.Haverfordwest (166 for 6) drew Cresselly (182 for 7)

Umpires: Trefor Evans & Dave Brandon

Scorers: Jayne Cole & Lois Howlett-Dyer

This was always likely to be a high-scoring match with so much batting power on display but in the final analysis a draw was a fair result as Cresselly opener Phil Williams stroked a classy undefeated century and Haverfordwest also had some useful innings as the game ended with them still 16 runs behind Cresselly.Williams made Haverfordwest for being dropped three times but he played some lovely shots as he accumulated nine fours and three sixes before reaching three figures in the final over. James Venables marked his debut with 23 alongside Julian Arthur (29) as both Steve Phillips and Clive Tucker finished with 2 for 37 in a Cresselly tally of 182 for 7.Danny Potter looked in good nick for The Town before he was carelessly run out on 49 and there were other cameos from Steve Phillips (20) and Karl Rhead (28) before Phil Kirkby stood resolute at the end with 31 not out to secure the full draw points.

Match 2 - Neyland versus Narberth

Andrew Miller - runs and wickets for Neyland skipperNeyland (131 for 8) drew with Narberth (114 for 8)

Umpires: Hilliard Davies & Richard Merriman

Scorers: Patrick Bellerby & Idwal Vincent

Neyland and Narberth battled to a draw at the Athletic Ground as the home side batted first and had skipper Andrew Miller to thank for their score of 132 for 7 since he scored a typically steady 45 alongside Nick Kooman’s 22 before he was run out. Matthew Johns bowled cannily for Narberth with 3 for 35 and there were two wickets each for Ian and Ben Hughes.

It was a total well within Narberth’s grasp as Richard Adams opened with 44 and Mike Scale chipped in with 25 from his No 3 berth – but then Andrew Miller showed what an asset he is to the team with a spell of 4 for 24 and in the final analysis Matthew Johns used his vast experience to good effect for Narberth as he remained 22 not out at the close.

Match 3 - Whitland versus St Ishmaels

Peter Bradshaw - 62 not out for Tish captainWhitland (143 all out) lost to St Ishmaels (144 for 3) by seven wickets

Umpires: Dennis Chiffi & Dai Morris

Scorers: Janice Webb & Wendy Bradshaw

St Ishmaels captain Peter Bradshaw played a key role at Whitland as he won the toss and asked Whitland to bat first on a damp track – and followed up with an unbeaten 62 as he steered his team home by seven wickets.Whitland had steady innings from Steve Fraser (29), Kevin Pearce (32) and Iestyn Scourfield (23) but good bowling by James Salter (4 for 27) and Andrew Palmer (3 for 40) restricted them to 143 all out.

Bradshaw and Andrew Williams launched the Tish innings with some excellent stroke play before Williams was caught by Bobby Webb off his dad Paul’s bowling for 32 and Stewart Kimpton made sure there was no collapse by contributing 23 runs. Dave Lee caused a slight tremor with his 2 for 15 spell but Bradshaw had five boundaries in his undefeated innings as Tish won with plenty to spare.

Match 4 - Lawrenny versus Langwm

Andrew Cole - excellent century for LawrennyLawrenny (184 for 7) drew with Llangwm (112 for 7)

Umpires: John Williams & Les Hastings

Scorers: Malcolm Thomas & Stuart Beresford

A splendid century from opening bat Andrew Cole (Senior) helped Lawrenny to a healthy 184 for 7 and then gain the better of the draw against visiting Llangwm, who could only muster 112 for 7.Cole’s innings was all the more praiseworthy since Lawrenny collapsed to 32 for 4 before he found a willing all in Ian Jenkins, who scored 46 (seven fours and a six) before lost patience and fell four runs short of a half century. Cole kept full focussed at the other end, however, and when he was finally bowled by Chris Inward he had amassed 13 fours and a six in his 103 runs.

Llangwm never looked likely to chase such a target as they lost early wickets but a bright 57 from No 4 Luke Brock had four fours and two big sixes in it before he was clean bowled by Steve Lewis, who finished with 2 for 11 alongside 2 for 27 from new recruit Richard Prout. But by then the run rate was far too high for Llangwm and they settled for the draw without picking up any bonus points.

Match 5 - Carew versus Hook

Simon Wood - superb century for CarewCarew (204 for 6) beat Hook (96 all out) by 108 runs

Umpires: Alan Hansen & Huw Davies

Scorers: Mike Scourfield & Joy Jones

Carew showed what a good side they are as they proved far too strong for promoted Hook as Simon Wood led them to a huge score before they declared and then they shot out Hook to win by over 100 runs.Wood scored a century on the opening day of the season for the third time and his superb 100 included ten fours and three sixes before he went in the late chase for runs so that skipper Rob Scourfield could declare with two overs in hand.

Nick Scourfield chipped in with 48 runs and Tim Hicks had a late 29 as Carew reached the challenging score of 206 for 4.Hook needed big runs from their top order but only Ross Martin (42) stayed long against Tim Hicks (3 for 19), Rob Scourfield (3 for 15) and Rhys Davies (3 for 36) as Carew claimed maximum points as their reward for a good all-round performance.
