Pembs Junior Schools march triumphantly on
Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Football Squad continued their successful Welsh Schools’ campaign by taking all twelve points against Afan Nedd Schools on Sunday, doubly pleasing since all the matches were played away at Port Talbot. This means that after establishing a 100% record against South Ceredigion and now these performances in Port Talbot both ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams boast a played four, won four record.
Pembrokeshire ‘A’ 1 goal Afan Nedd ‘A’ 0
Pembrokeshire under 11 teams played well on a sticky pitch, battling against a strong cross wind and they created several opportunities before team captain Scott Jones scored the all-important only goal with a long low drive that beat the home keeper.
The side defended well with Matthew Dickinson, Harry Goforth and Billy Truman all tackling strongly. George Taylor and Frazer Finlay played well on the flanks with Archie Beaumont-Denning holding the ball well up front. Donovan Griffin and Aron Ebsworth made good debuts.
Pembrokeshire ‘A’ 2 goals Afan Nedd ‘B’ 0
Pembs produced some lovely football resulting in Scott Jones scoring two good goals to give Pembs three vital points. Keeper Natty John, making his debut, kept a clean sheet and this was a very good team performance against a strong Afan Nedd side.
Pembrokeshire ‘B’ 2 goals Afan Nedd ‘B’ 1 goal
Pembs started out strongly with Dafydd Bevan and Liam Cullen attacking well. Patrick Pearce and Adam Davidson worked hard in midfield and Leon Williams scored two stunning goals before Afan Nedd pulled one back through a lucky deflection.
Pembrokeshire ‘B’ 3 goals Afan Nedd ‘A’ 2 goals
Pembrokeshire defended well through William Bateman and Nathan Ammesley-Rees when the home ‘A’ tried to start strongly. Leon Williams scored two quick goals from free kicks after some good passing by Dylan Davies and Patrick Pearce. Afan Nedd pulled one back, but Pearce put Pembs further ahead. The home team scored again in the closing minutes but were denied an equaliser by a good save from Liam Fienhagg in the Pembs goal.
