Dunvant came 10th last season but have recruited carefully this season and will be harder to beat. The Otters won 16-11 in Dunvant on their last visit and should make it a winning start to the new campaign. Win for Narberth.
Whitland v Tonmawr
Tonmawr topped the section last season but lost in the play-offs – and will be eager to go for broke again now. Whitland have a strong squad and will push them all the way but the visitors might just shade it. Tonmawr to take it by a narrow margin.
Division Three (West):
Aberystwyth v Crymych
Crymych go into a new section with anticipation but they have lost a couple of players and Aber are always tough to beat at home. A losing start for the Preseli Men.
Haverfordwest v Laugharne
Matches between these old rivals are always close but the visitors are keen to build on last season’s third place. They beat the Blues 14-12 on the opening day last season in Laugharne and could well edge through again. Narrow win for Laugharne.
Llanelli Wanderers v Cardigan
Llanelli Wanderers were sixth last season and will be looking to halt Cardigan in their stride. The Teifisiders lost in the play-offs last campaign but have been training well so they could go close. The Wanderers should use home advantage and sneak it.
Division Four (West):
Burry Port v Pembroke Dock Harlequins
An intriguing match since Burry Port were promoted from Division Five and the Quins were relegated from Division Three. The Quins are eager to bounce back quickly but are without a couple of key players. The Quins should still have too much fire-power.
Pembroke v Tenby
Local derbies are always hard to predict at the start of the season since both the Scarlets and the Seasiders want a flying start. Tenby came fourth last season and Pembroke ninth so the Seasiders are the form horses. Tenby to take the points.
Division Five (West):
Aberaeron v Neyland
Neyland are notoriously slow starters and don’t travel well but after relegation last season might be fired up to win. Aberaeron finished third but will find the All Blacks in form. Neyland need a good start so they should do well.
Cefneithin v St Davids
St Davids did well last season but a trip to Cefneithin, second in the table last campaign was not quite the start they would have wanted. Saints will do well to keep the score down.
Llangwm v Fishguard & Goodwick
Another tight local derby where both teams have trained well pre-season. Fishguard have Huw Evans at fly half but Llangwm will look to use home advantage to the full so it could be very interesting indeed. The Seagulls could fly high if Evans gets going.
Milford Haven v St Clears
Milford Have a strong squad which gained in experience last season but it is rumoured that St Clears have recruited a number of experienced players. The Mariners should still sail through if they play to their strengths.
